Summary

Project LEVAWG is set to host its 2025 conference, which will empower young women through leadership training, gender-based violence education, and economic and reproductive health advocacy.

The Resilient Girl Initiative is set to host the 2025 edition of its LEVAWG (Leadership and Ending Violence Against Women and Girls) programme on May 14, 2025, in Oro community, Kwara State. This initiative continues its mission to educate and empower female students on the critical issues of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), focusing on leadership, safety, and economic empowerment.

The event is being organised in partnership with six key organisations: Resilient Girl Initiative, Sheinspires Global Empowerment Initiative, You Can Be Initiative, Project PARTNERS, Naija Feminist Media, and .ORG Impact Awards.

LEVAWG boldly responds to the growing need for youth-focused strategies to address SGBV within campuses and communities. Through interactive workshops, training sessions, and mentorship, the initiative will equip women with the knowledge and tools needed to prevent and respond to incidents of violence.

The project doesn’t stop at advocacy. It would also strongly emphasise economic empowerment. The programme encourages women and girls to become financially independent and live safer and more empowered lives.

Speaking on the upcoming event, Joy Oluwatoyin Adeboye, founder of Resilient Girl Initiative, shared her passion for equipping girls with the confidence to pursue their dreams.

“Just as I broke barriers and limitations, I want to empower more girls to break the barriers that hinder their access to be seen, heard and explore their potential,” Joy said.

In addition, the initiative will award scholarships to 30 vulnerable girls as part of its commitment to empowering girls through access to education.

As the 2025 conference approaches, PROJECT LEVAWG stands as a beacon of hope, ensuring that every girl child knows she has the power to overcome barriers, lead with purpose, and win no matter the odds.
