RESILIENCE
My body is not a canvas for your pain;
it’s a fortress of resilience.
This sacred part of me is hidden,
for it is a place of refuge,
a treasure for no eyes to see.
Sink me in my ocean of holiness,
cleanse me with gentleness,
for I have no arms to attack.
My dress is not the
address you seek for shade.
My shape is not where
you count all the figures in your head;
my thighs aren’t a place
for you to fight all your plight.
I’m a light unto myself;
do not cast me into darkness,
for I am harmless.
