Summary
Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has called on Nigerians to demand urgent action from the government. This follows the abduction of 25 schoolgirls from Maga Comprehensive Girls’ Secondary School in Kebbi State on Nov. 17, 2025.
Aisha Yesufu, a Human rights activist, has called on Nigerians to rise and demand urgent action from the Federal Government following the abduction of students of Maga Comprehensive Girls’ Secondary School in Kebbi State.
On Nov. 17, 2025, gunmen attacked the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, around 4 a.m.
They abducted 25 schoolgirls from their dormitories.
In her statement titled “Enough Is Enough – Nigeria Must Rise And Say #Neveragain,” released on Nov. 18, 2025, the activist said the latest abduction mirrors previous attacks that happened in Chibok, Dapchi, Kankara, Jangebe and Kuriga.
She warned that Nigeria is repeating past tragedies that have left generations of girls unprotected and communities in grief.
Aisha criticised the government’s failure to protect children sent to school, saying terrorists now treat citizens’ lives as a sport.
“We have become the playthings of terrorists who use the lives of citizens as a sport to pass the time,” she said, and asked, “When will the Nigerian government declare #NeverAgain?”
She recalled her visit to the Durumi IDP camp in Abuja, where she interacted with victims who had lost their homes and loved ones due to insecurity.
“Women who told me, with heavy voices, that they are tired of running, tired of burying their dead, tired of a country that always shows up too late. Their pain is a warning. Their reality is the future that awaits our daughters if we fail them today,” she wrote.
The human rights activist warned that allowing the Kebbi abduction to be treated as routine would signal that girls’ lives do not matter.
“If we allow this to slide again, then we have accepted that any child, in any state, at any time, can be taken.”
Aisha emphasised that Nigeria must learn from its past and unite in demanding immediate action, insisting that no child should have to choose between safety and education.
She prayed for the victims who lost their lives and warned that unless urgent and decisive steps are taken, the cycle of tragedy will continue.
