It’s Time to Take Control of Your Financial Freedom

Hello friend,
A woman earning her own money is sometimes seen as “too independent” or “troublesome.” But here’s the truth: when a husband is angry, access to money can be blocked quickly. All those designer clothes mean nothing when you can’t buy food for your kids because Oga is upset.
Financial freedom isn’t just about having money in your account. It’s about having the power to make your own choices without begging or explaining yourself to anyone. It’s about being able to leave situations that don’t serve you instead of staying stuck because you can’t afford to leave.
Think about it—how many women stay in toxic marriages because they depend on their husband’s money? How many brilliant women have buried their dreams because they don’t have access to funds? We need to change this narrative.
Women who gain financial independence transform their entire lives: from asking permission to spend money on basic needs to making major investment decisions, from managing small businesses to building empires. The difference isn’t just in their bank accounts, it’s in their confidence, their voice, their entire being.
This isn’t about competing with men or destroying marriages. It’s about having options, about standing on your own feet, about having the power to choose your path. When you control your money, you control your destiny. No more adjusting your voice or shrinking yourself because someone else holds the money.
Financial independence means you can walk away from what doesn’t serve you. It means your children see a mother who stands tall on her own feet. It means you have choices, and in this life, choices are everything.
It’s time to take control of our financial futures. Because at the end of the day, a woman with her own money isn’t just wealthy —she’s unstoppable. And that’s the kind of freedom every woman deserves.
With love and solidarity,The NFM Team.

Not Your Prey: Fighting Male Violence Against Women in Nigeria
By: Oluwafunmbi Ogunsola
The message “I Am Not Your Prey” rejects the notion that women exist for male consumption. “Afraid No More,” declares an end to fear-based control. Together, these statements demand fundamental change in how Nigerian society treats women.
Change begins with naming the problem: male violence against women. Not “gender-based violence,” which obscures who does what to whom. Not “domestic issues” that privatise public crimes. Not “cultural practices” that excuse human rights violations.
Nigerian women deserve to live without fear, to walk the streets without harassment, to work without exploitation, to learn without abuse, to love without violence, and to exist without threat. These rights belong to women by virtue of being human —not as gifts men can give or take away.
