Summary

Following the abduction of the 25 girls from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga community, Kebbi state, Hussaini Aliyu, the chairperson of Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area, has released their names. The chairperson emphasised that the government is working actively to rescue the girls.

The names of the abducted 25 school girls from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga community, Kebbi State, were released to the public on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. Hussaini Aliyu, the chairperson of Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area in Kebbi, released the names.

Recall that 25 girls from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga community of Kebbi State were abducted by gunmen in the early hours of Monday, November 17, 2025. This attack has sparked debate over the increasing insecurity and the unsafe school environment in Nigeria. 

Below are the names of the abducted girls according to their classes.

3. Nana Firdausi Jibril

4. Masauda Yakubu Romo

Senior Secondary School 2B

5. Hauwa Saleh

6. Hauwau Umar Imam

 Senior Secondary School 3A & 3B

7. Salima Garba Umar

8. Salima Sani Zimri

9. Amina G. Umar

10. Rashida Muhammad Dingu

11. Saliha Umar

12. Aisha Usman

13. Jamila Iliyasu

14. Maryam Illiyasu

15. Najaatu Abdullahi

16. Zainab Kolo

Junior Secondary School 3A

17. Surraya Tukur

18. Hafsat Umar Yalmo

19. Maryam Usman

The chairperson also refuted the claims by Riley Moore, a United States lawmaker, that the abduction occurred in a “Christian enclave,” stating that all the abducted girls are Muslims. He emphasised that security agencies and the local government are actively working for their safe return.
