Summary

A user, Yom (@ThatboyYom) on X (formerly called Twitter), posted screenshots and wrote that they were a WhatsApp conversation between a feminist, Chikamma, alleging that Alex slept with her dog and falsely accused people of rape. Our fact-check proves that the claim is false, misogynistic, and lacks authenticity. The claimant, Yom, has also taken down the false post after the victim threatened legal action.

Claim

On November 16, 2025, ThaBoyYom posted on X a WhatsApp conversation between Chikamma and her ex, stating that she should debunk the claim that she is “sleeping with her dog and falsely accusing people of rape.” The tweet has garnered 1.6k comments, 3.9k reposts, 1.7 million views, and 3.8k likes.

The virality of this false allegation shows a longstanding pattern in which outspoken feminist women are targeted with sexualized smears.

NFM Checks

Following the resurfacing of an old tweet in which Paystack co-founder, Ezra Onubi, appeared to confess to abusing animals, social media erupted in outrage, and the backlash quickly spread to his feminist friends. This generated claims, targeting Chikamma, that she sleeps with dogs.

In the past few days, Twitter (now X) has been flooded with posts claiming that Chikamma Vivian Nnabue, a feminist and vocal commentator on gender issues, admitted to having sexual relations with her dog and accusing people of rape. The viral trend was fueled by a series of alleged WhatsApp screenshots, supposedly showing a conversation between Chikamma and an ex-partner. Alongside the chat images, several anonymous accounts resurfaced old tweets from X, twisting her words to imply that she publicly confessed to bestiality.

There is no tweet, audio, video, or message, archived or current. From Chikamma, in which she admits, hints at, or references the acts being claimed. The old tweets used against her were taken out of context.

She has since released a public statement clearly debunking the allegation,  stating that on the rape issue, she reported the case of the lecturer to the tribunal years ago. She called the posts fabricated, malicious, and targeted harassment. No credible evidence supports the claims. She clarified that she has never practised, endorsed, or fantasised about anything remotely connected to the allegations and that the screenshots are fabricated attempts to damage her reputation.

Other credible users have refuted the claims. For example, a feminist and medical professional Rene_noire,  publicly challenged the narrative, pointing out her own allegations. She was falsely accused by an X user, Ayomide Salako, which were based on misrepresented tweets of hers. By sharing her experience, she helps to seek truth and justice for Chikamma.

Social Media Users React

This claim generated mixed responses from users, with a few disagreeing with it.

“So, where’s the picture with the dogs? Did you confirm it before posting this?” philomath argued.

Another user Chikamma tweeted that “The screenshot currently being circulated looks entirely fabricated. It is not a real WhatsApp conversation, and the claims attached to it are false and harmful. If you look closely at the image, you will notice multiple inconsistencies that do not align with the actual WhatsApp interface. This includes irregular text spacing, misaligned message bubbles, and an unnatural flow of dialogue. The typing patterns of the dialogue are alike. This indicates that it was either AI-generated or heavily edited. It is clear that this screenshot was created by someone with the intent to mislead and damage the person in question’s reputation.”

The claimant, Yom, has also deleted the fake images and post after outrage.

Experts weigh in

A gender advocate and financial expert, Esther Nwankwo, says that this incident highlights a disturbing pattern where feminists are disproportionately targeted with misogynistic narratives designed to shame, silence, and discredit them. It highlights the importance of digital literacy and exercising caution when encountering unverified claims online.

Conclusion

The allegations against Chikamma are false and part of a disinformation campaign. They originate from unreliable sources, such as fake WhatsApp screenshots and fabricated tweets, with no credible evidence to support the claims. After the victim threatened legal action, Yom has since taken down the post.
