American rapper Nicki Minaj retriated the alleged Christians genocide in Nigeria at a UN gathering held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. She highlighted the religious violence in the country and called for urgent actions
American rapper Onika Maraj-Petty, popularly known as Nicki Minaj, had on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, addressed the alleged Christians genocide in Nigeria at a United Nations event, held at UN headquarters in New York, United States.
Earlier this month, the US envoy to the United Nations, Mike Waltz, publicly invited Minaj to visit him for an in-depth discussion about what our administration is doing to protect Christians’ freedoms all over the world. This invitation led to the singer’s public appearance at a special UN gathering.
This planned event came after Trump claimed that there was an ongoing christian genocide in Nigeria and announced that the country would be designated as a “Country of Particular Concern.”
The event titled, “Combatting Religious Violence and the Killing of Christians in Nigeria,” was organised in collaboration with the U.S. permanent mission to the UN. The 12th-time Grammy-nominated singer publicly backed and highlighted President Donald Trump’s allegations of Christians’ persecution in Nigeria.
“In Nigeria, Christians are being targeted, driven from their homes, and killed,” she said. “Churches have been burned, families have been torn apart, and entire communities live in fear simply because of how they pray.”
When one’s church, mosque, or place of worship is destroyed, everyone’s heart should break just a little bit,” she added.
The rapper called for urgent action to defend the Christians, stating that everyone has right and freedom to their choice of belief or religion.
