A Nigerian woman, Chibuanulim Juliet, has called for help on X (formerly Twitter) on Nov. 19, 2025, after her younger sister was kidnapped while travelling from Lagos to Nnewi, Anambra State.

Juliet said the family became worried when they could not reach her sister, only to receive a call from the kidnappers demanding ransom.

The lady said the kidnappers initially asked for ₦30 million but later reduced it to ₦15 million after she begged and gave her until 8:00 PM on Nov. 19, 2025, to pay.

According to her, her brother in Nnewi tried reporting the case to the police, but officers told him the case should be filed in Lagos since the journey started there. She added that when she reached out to the Lagos police command, they directed her back to the East.

Nigerians reacted to the incident, expressing concern about the rising cases of abductions across the country. One user, @Ada___obi, wrote that kidnapping appears to be happening daily without meaningful government action.

Another, @kilonsup, questioned the whereabouts of the Nigeria Police Force and asked whether citizens’ safety was still a priority.

Juliet later shared that when she contacted the police for assistance, she was told to pay ₦3 million before officers could begin the process and ₦300,000 for a tracking officer to accompany them. “Please, if I had that amount, no be to pay them bring my sister back?” she wrote.

As of the writing of this report, the police have yet to comment on her claims.
