Quick Rundown
Our Mission
Naija Feminists Media (NFM) is a revolutionary force dedicated to advancing women's rights through the media and grassroots activism. Our mission is to make feminism mainstream, promoting gender equality and inclusivity through diverse knowledge products. We produce investigative stories that expose the truth, feminist films that inspire, and women-centered vodcasts that spark conversations. Our content is designed to demystify harmful gender stereotypes, amplify Black feminist perspectives, and shape a more equitable society. We aim to create a culture shift in Nigeria, where feminism is no longer marginalised but celebrated. Our platform empowers women to share their stories, assert their rights, and demand change.
Our Vision
Naija Feminists Media envision a world of women’s liberation and the acknowledgement of black women's struggle to achieve the goal.
What are the problems we are solving?
There has been a lot of disinformation about feminism and that it is unnecessary in Nigeria. An instance of such disinformation is this: “Truth be told, the ideologies of feminism practised in Nigeria is a corrupt and adulterated version of what worldwide feminism, which originated in the West, is all about. Most Nigerian feminists are just bitter and resentful bunch who, due to some of their bad experiences, have grievances against the male gender, and that is what catalyses their so-called feminist standpoint. “There is nothing harmful about a woman ceremonially kneeling to serve her husband a drink,” said Stanley Alieke in the article ‘Nigeria’s Adulterated Version Of Feminism’ published May 28, 2022. Through feminist news, Naija Feminists Media (NFM) exposes and analyses the systemic patriarchal and misogynistic practices in Nigeria and why gender advocacy is fundamental in the country. There has also been an underrepresentation of black feminists' voices in global gender issues; hence, feminism is constantly associated with the West. Therefore, Naija Feminists Media produces media content that is strictly from African women’s perspective. Consequently, Naija Feminists Media is solving the problem of disinformation as it relates to gender inequality and addressing the underrepresentation of black women’s voices in global gender issues.
Our journey
Naija Feminists Media is a platform founded in 2021, mainly based on social media. In 2024, it expanded to become an organised body representing the interest of women’s liberation through mass media in a way uninfluenced by profitability and propaganda.
