What is 16 Days of Activism?

The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is an annual global campaign, running from 25 November (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to 10 December (Human Rights Day). Launched by activists in 1991, it seeks to raise awareness, mobilise action, and challenge the pervasive violence against women and girls worldwide. The campaign emphasises the urgent need for systemic change, highlighting the role of individuals, communities, and governments in eradicating gender-based violence and promoting gender equality.
