Summary: The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has arrested AbdulRauf Ambali, a 40-year-old man, for alleged sexual abuse of his teenage daughter and the procurement of an illegal abortion.

AbdulRauf Ambali, a 40-year-old man, has been arrested for reportedly incestuous sexual abuse of his teenage daughter and the procurement of an illegal abortion. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, apprehended him on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, after the case was officially logged at Alapa in Asa Local Government of the State.

According to the command’s statement, the case was initially reported by the suspect, who filed a missing persons report for his 14-year-old daughter, who had been missing from home for three weeks. Upon investigation and successful return of the girl, it was revealed that she had deliberately fled from her father’s residence after enduring months of sexual abuse and intimidation.

“The minor further disclosed that she was frequently threatened, beaten, and intimidated whenever she resisted the suspect’s advances. According to her account, the abuse persisted until she could no longer endure the situation, prompting her to leave home without informing anyone of her whereabouts,” the statement added.

The NSCDC added that the minor initially stayed with her grandmother since childhood before moving to her father’s residence in December 2025 under the pretence of parental care. The victim stated that the abuse began shortly after she began living with him. Then, in May 2026, she became pregnant and was taken to a private facility to terminate the pregnancy. Afterwards, she was warned not to disclose the incidents and advised to adopt family planning measures to prevent future pregnancies.

In response to the incident, Abbas Ndah Mohammed, Kwara State Commandant of the NSCDC, described the incident as a grave violation of the rights and dignity of a child.  He emphasised the command’s commitment to tackle child abuse, gender-based violence and related offences across the state.

“In the course of the investigation, the suspect reportedly admitted to having unlawful sexual relations with the minor,” he said.
