The Delta State Police Command have arrested Asaba-based content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu of Asaba, on July 15, 2026, following allegations that he raped and physically assaulted 20-year-old nursing student Favour Agbro.

On June 1, 2026, Favour Agbro travelled from Ughelli to Asaba after Ogbonna invited her to participate in a content creation training programme he had advertised across his social media platforms, promising to teach her how to monetise her TikTok and Facebook pages.

Despite informing Ifeanyi through WhatsApp conversations that she was not interested in any romantic relationship, she was sexually assaulted upon arrival. Upon her arrival in Asaba, Ifeanyi allegedly took her to a hotel, where he raped her and subjected her to physical violence.

Favour later returned home, visibly distressed and disclosed the incident to her parents. In the aftermath of the assault, she made a video recording in which she recounted her experience and the emotional distress she suffered following the incident.

In a video recorded at the police station after his arrest, Ogbonna was seen pleading with Favour’s family for a settlement, stating: “This is a very terrible mistake. I’m ready to give everything.” Delta State Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect is in police custody as investigations continue.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, directed the Area Command, Effurun, to carry out an immediate and thorough investigation into the allegations and has assured the family of the deceased and the public that the case will be thoroughly investigated and that no aspect of the allegations will be overlooked.
