Warri Pikin Calls on Women to Take Up Space without Permission

On July 22, 2026, Nigerian comedian and content creator Warri Pikin posted a rallying message on her official Facebook account, declaring that she belongs to a tribe of women who do not need permission to move, act, or own their gifts. 

She called on women to stop waiting to be let into existing systems and instead build new ones that fit their reality.

“You don’t have to fit into systems that were never built for you. You create new ones that fit your reality,” she said.

Warri Pikin, whose real name is Favour Goodness Thomas-Briggs, is a Nigerian comedian, actress, content creator, and entrepreneur based in Lagos. She is widely known for her comedic skits rooted in Warri culture and pidgin English, and has built one of the most recognisable personal brands among Nigerian female entertainers. 

She is also the founder of the Warri Pikin Foundation, which focuses on empowering women and children, and a vocal advocate for women’s visibility and economic independence.

Directing her message at a wide range of women, she said, 

“This one is for the women — the loud ones, the funny ones, the silent movers, the ones who’ve been told to shrink but don’t budge. Women who see the glass ceilings but break them and call it Tuesday. Women who dare to go first, so others know it’s possible.”
