On July 30, 2026, a man was arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force after he threw his two children from a three-storey building in Umuobe, near Barracks Junction, along Opobo Road in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.
According to Magic FM Aba, the incident occurred on Thursday and caused panic among residents after the man was found lying unconscious but still breathing outside his house with a head injury.
Eyewitnesses told Magic FM Aba that the man threw his two children from the upper floor of the building and attempted to throw his wife before he fell from the building.
The children were immediately rushed to a hospital for medical attention. Magic FM Aba later confirmed that both children survived the fall, although details of their medical condition were not immediately available.
As residents gathered at the scene, they alerted the authorities for intervention.
Police operatives arrived at the compound at about 6:22 p.m. to secure the scene and begin preliminary investigations.
At about 6:32 p.m., the suspect was taken into police custody after he reportedly resisted arrest. Officers later removed him from the scene as efforts continued to restore calm and investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The circumstances leading to the incident remain unclear. Police are expected to continue investigations to determine what led to the attack and the man’s subsequent fall.
