TG Omori Draws Backlash After Naming Poco Lee “Purest Soul” Amid Sexual Assault Allegations

On August 24, 2026, Nigerian music video director Jeremiah Ogini, popularly called TG Omori, drew widespread backlash after posting a message that appeared supportive of dancer and entertainer Poco Lee, who is at the centre of sexual assault allegations and has been remanded in a UK prison pending a court hearing.
TG Omori tweeted that Poco Lee, whose real name is Iweh Pascal Odinaka, is the “purest soul” he has ever met. He added that “his heart breaks” for him, and that “the devil really works overtime.”
The post attracted over 3.2 million views and triggered an immediate wave of criticism from Nigerians who accused him of prioritising loyalty to a male friend over accountability for the women who have made allegations against Poco Lee. They stated that he was enabling a potential sexual offender and minimising the seriousness of the allegations.
“If Poco Lee had been accused of the same crime in Nigeria, he’d definitely be walking free and dancing at shows right now, because people like TG Omori are always quick to defend alleged sex offenders in this country, instead of demanding justice. Enabler!!” Oiza stated.
Another user, Uloma, shared, “It’s quite morally audacious the things you people believe in. To have so much contempt for gay people but spiking a woman’s drink and raping her isn’t even worthy of a little reproach — it’s just the devil working overtime? Where do y’all get the confidence to spew such things?”
A third X user stated, “Oga, the other day you were on here spewing homophobia under the guise of Christianity, and now you’re reducing the severity of rape to merely being the handiwork of the devil. There’s something deeply disturbing about the way Nigerian Christians continue to use Christianity to frame and excuse their bad behaviours.”
In a related development, music platform Spotify has taken down the collaborative track “Opera Mini” by Poco Lee and Seyi Vibez following the controversy, according to HypeTribe.
