Aisha Madina Maishanu, a senior broadcast journalist at BBC Hausa, has won the Future Awards Africa Prize for Journalism, 2025. This ceremony took place on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos State.
The Future Awards Africa is an annual prestigious ceremony that recognises young African individuals who are reshaping the continent through innovation, creativity, entrepreneurial skills, and leadership. The awarded young talents are chosen across diverse sectors, including sports, governance, technology, entrepreneurship, and arts. The awards cover a diverse range of fields, featuring over 20 categories to reflect the impacts of young Africans’ achievements.
Ms Madina is widely recognised for her powerful storytelling journalism, in-depth interviews, and dedication to covering critical social and developmental issues across Nigeria. In 2024, she received the BBC Rising Star of the Year Award. This makes her the first BBC Hausa and the only African recipient that year.

Currently, Ms. Madina is the first female and youngest person to hold the position of Senior Social Media Broadcast Journalist in BBC Hausa. Her 2024 investigative story on infant malnutrition in Northern Nigeria garnered national attention and contributed to the ongoing policy-making process for maternal and child health.
