Summary
An eyewitness on the Ibom Air incident, identified as David, stated that Comfort Emmanson did not resist switching off her phone while onboard. Meanwhile, Comfort has been freed from Kirikiri, with all criminal charges against her dropped.
A Twitter user identified as Ogebe David, who witnessed the Ibom Air incident on August 10, 2025, has provided an account of the events on his Twitter page on August 13, 2025, stating that Comfort never resisted switching off her mobile device.
David, who was on Ibom Air Flight, stated he sat in seat 14B, directly across the aisle from Ms. Comfort, making him a witness to all interactions that happened.
He recounted that an Ibom Air hostess politely asked Ms. Comfort to switch off her phone, but when another hostess approached, she did so “with an almighty huff and told Comfort to switch off her phone in a very high voice,” he added. “Ms. Comfort, in a low voice, tried to explain buttons on her phone for switching off were not working, so she did not know how to switch off the phone.”
He shared that despite Comfort’s quiet explanation of her request for help because she cannot navigate the phone, the Ibom Air hostess rebuffed her, refused to touch the phone, and responded that “she doesn’t have time for her nonsense.
Emphasising what he witnessed, David’s statement in part reads, “Ms. Comfort never at any time refused to switch off her phone for take-off. Hostess 2 acted very poorly and inflamed a rather simple and small matter. And this is putting it mildly.”
Meanwhile, Ms. Comfort has been discharged from court and has been freed from Kiriki. The air ban against her has also been lifted
