D'Tigress has emerged in 8th place in the FIBA women's world rankings, a remarkable milestone. Amassing 640.1 ranking points, the team moved from 11th to 8th in the ranking ladder.

D’Tigress has clinched 8th place in the latest FIBA women’s world rankings, a testament to its talent and growing influence in the sports world. 

According to the ranking released on Thursday, August 14, 2025, the team jumped three places from 11th to 8th position, amassing 640.1 ranking points. This feat came after the team engraved its name in African basketball history by winning its fifth consecutive AfroBasketball crown.

D’Tigress’ triumph at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket in Abidjan earned Nigeria a place at the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Berlin, Germany. 

Emerging as the 8th on the FIBA women’s world ranking, D’Tigress remains the only African team ever to occupy a top 10 place.

Presently, the team has its eyes set on the global tournament and the Olympic qualification.
