Hadiza Abubakar Yar’adua, the Honourable Commissioner of Women Affairs in Katsina State, has applauded Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON, for launching the N5.7 billion Goat Rearing Empowerment Scheme. The initiative aims to enhance the economic well-being of 40,000 rural women and large-scale farmers across the state, marking a significant step toward economic diversification, food security, and women’s financial independence.
Under this initiative, selected women from all 361 wards will receive four goats each, while large-scale farmers will be provided with 50 goats to expand commercial livestock farming. This effort aims to enable women to build sustainable businesses, generate steady income, and contribute to the local economy. A planned goat farm in Ladawa, Rimi LGA, will enhance breeding programs, milk production, and training opportunities.
Speaking at the launch, Hadiza Abubakar Yar’adua emphasised the direct empowerment of women through the scheme, noting that it equips them with essential resources for long-term financial stability. She highlighted that the initiative goes beyond goat rearing, catalysing economic transformation and community development.
She commended Governor Radda’s dedication to women’s empowerment and agricultural advancement, stating that his vision continues to drive meaningful progress across Katsina State.
