British-Nigerian fashion designer Liz Sanya has officially entered the Guinness World Records competition for creating the world’s largest sandal. The record-breaking project was completed over three days, from January 2 to January 4, 2025, at Pixel Park, 37 Lawal Street, Lekki, Lagos.
Liz and her dedicated team worked tirelessly to construct the massive pink sandal, drawing widespread attention and support from admirers. Among those present to cheer her on were filmmaker KortyEO and music artists Mayorkun, Pheelz, Taves, and others.
Upon completing the record-breaking attempt, Liz took to Instagram to share her joy and inspire her followers, captioning her post: “Believing in me is free, doubting me will cost you.” Her accomplishment was met with applause from fans and industry peers, who celebrated her creative vision and perseverance.
This achievement marks yet another milestone for Nigerians on the global stage. It follows a series of Guinness World Records set by Nigerians, including chef Hilda Baci’s longest cooking marathon in 2023, Fola David’s largest painting by an individual, and chess master Tunde Onakoya’s record for the longest chess game. Liz Sanya’s success not only highlights her talent but also cements Nigeria’s reputation as a hub for exceptional accomplishments.
