Toke Makinwa and Mary Njoku have shown solid support for Annie Idibia, who is undergoing divorce proceedings from her husband, 2Face Idibia.
Popular media personality Toke Makinwa and actress Mary Njoku have taken to social media to show support for Annie Idibia. They did so following her ex-husband Innocent “2Face” Idibia, aka 2Baba, announcing their separation and ongoing divorce proceedings.
In a now-deleted Instagram post on Jan. 26, 2025, 2Baba took to his page to announce that he and Annie have been separated for a while.
“Hello to my beautiful people of all Federations. Well, this thing I have to say is short but also long…. I and Annie Macaulay have been separated for a while now. And currently filed for divorce… I would grant a press release soon to tell my story ..not because it is anyone’s right to know about my personal life; but because I love my people and I need them to know my innocence or offence. Stay blessed, my people. I love you all.”
This post, which surprised many people, quickly went viral on major social media platforms. Minutes later, a post appeared on his Instagram story stating that he had been hacked.
While fans and social media users were still trying to piece the news together, another follow-up video was posted in which 2Baba specifically stated that he said what he said and that he and Annie were, in fact, truly separated.
However, before he deleted all posts made regarding the matter, Toke Makinwa condemned him for bringing the divorce to social media. She left a reply under his post, saying,
“This is wrong on all levels, and you should be ashamed of yourself for bringing this here. Bring it on. If you think she’s alone, let me tell you here that you’ll have to fight all of us.”
She then made another post on her story hours later, stating that it was very wrong of 2Baba to have brought the situation–which had been ongoing for a while without public knowledge–to social media.
“Nobody is asking anybody to stay in a situation that’s not serving them any purpose anymore, by all means leave if you must, but why bring this online this very moment? We know what is going on behind closed doors, he world doesn’t know anything. It’s already been hectic with opinions flying around, and when I say we will fight for her, I’m not talking about the general public. A handful of people know the truth, and time will tell. Timing is everything, and empathy is everything”
Actress Mary Njoku, in a post few hours ago on Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, also stated that she was solidly behind Annie. “Bro, Annie has a family o! Your sisters-in-law are many, and we’ve stayed quiet out of respect for her tough choices. But since you’ve decided to humiliate her at her lowest, no wahala. it’s your choice. Just make sure she’s healthy and okay. Because when the time comes, we’ll have plenty of questions for you!”
The divorce announcement comes amidst the release of the third season of “Young, Famous and African,” a reality TV show in which Annie was a cast member and had been subjected to heavy criticism for her role.
