Speaking at the High-Level Session on women on September 23, 2025, which commemorated 30 years of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, the Minister described women’s empowerment as central to Nigeria’s development goals.
“I had the honour of delivering Nigeria’s Country Statement at the 80th United Nations General Assembly, during the High-Level Session on Women, commemorating 30 years of the Beijing Declaration. I reaffirmed that empowering women is not optional, it is the key to unlocking Nigeria’s full potential and achieving the goals of Agenda 2050,” she stated in a post shared on her official Instagram page.
She further emphasised that Nigeria is committed to shaping a future where women stand at the centre of peace, progress, and sustainable development.
The High-Level Session on Women at UNGA was convened to mark three decades since the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action in 1995, a landmark global agenda for advancing women’s rights.
