Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmed, Minister of State for Education, joined the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa (CON), at a symposium on September 30, 2025, to commemorate World Teachers’ Day.
Using the platform to spotlight teacher collaboration as central to national education reform, Prof. Suwaiba said she had the honour of participating in the symposium themed “Recasting Teaching as a Collaborative Profession.”
In her paper on the role of leadership and policy in sustaining teacher collaboration, she highlighted the Federal Ministry of Education’s initiatives to develop professional learning communities, teacher networks and digital platforms designed to allow educators to share experiences and grow together.
Prof. Suwaiba described the event as an opportunity for reflection,
“The symposium gave us the chance to reflect and make practical recommendations that will guide reforms.” Prof. Suwaiba noted.
She urged unions, development partners, civil society and parents to support teachers, stressing that when teachers thrive through collaboration, learners succeed and Nigeria prospers.
