Popular Nigerian content creator Hauwa has criticised Nigeria’s poor accessibility for people living with disabilities (PWDs), saying the system excludes and marginalises them in every aspect of daily life.

She made the comments in a new video shared online on Oct 24, 2025.

In the video shared on X (formerly Twitter) on October 16, 2025, Hauwa said she was shocked to realise how inaccessible public spaces and events are for persons with disabilities after attending a program where a sign language interpreter was present.

“When you think about just how inaccessible Nigeria is for people living with disabilities, you start to get pissed off,” she said.

She lamented how public events, buildings, and transportation systems often fail to consider people with mobility or hearing challenges.

“You’re doing a workshop for people who live with disability, you cannot put a ramp to enter the building. So how do you want the people you’re organising the show for to enter?” Hauwa asked.

Hauwa also highlighted how the lack of infrastructure and awareness reinforces discrimination, noting that society often views people with disabilities as beggars rather than equals.

“We are not able to integrate people living with disability into society,” she said, calling on Nigerians to challenge such attitudes.

She urged individuals and event organisers to take personal responsibility by ensuring inclusivity in their spaces.

“We need to do better as a collective. All of us. We need to do better,” she said
