AÂ controversy erupted after Obi Chimdinma, a hair vendor and influencer, showcased her new luxury car on Twitter. While many congratulated her, a wave of misogynistic comments accused her of relying on a wealthy benefactor, sparking a heated online debate.Â
On March 30, a popular Twitter influencer and hair vendor, Obi Chimdinma, made a post on Twitter celebrating a C450 AMG trim she newly acquired. While women were in the comments section congratulating her, incels otherwise known as men who hate the progress of women were in her comment section trying to push the narrative that it was a chief that bought her car.
“We all know the car’s owner was the guy who snapped you. You just wanted to catch cheap interactions on X posing with it. Anyway, you got what you wanted,” @proximategist tweeted,
@wackolifestyle1 also commented, dripping with jealousy, “Omo, what’s your true occupation cause me and you know salary can’t buy this.”
After a few hours, the tweet went viral, and Dinma clapped back to the men who began to accuse her of lying and being a prostitute.
“Since I posted a picture of the car I bought, I have not rested from inferior men. I saved 200k daily to be able to afford that. But some people think a man just closed his eyes and bought it for me. I pray y’all heal. I will drink your tears!”
The complaining exposes a problem: Men like these believe an old man must sponsor a woman who can afford to buy herself such a car. They fail to think and see that women in Nigeria today can afford to stand on their own feet.
@dee_deevyne went on to defend the lady by tweeting, “Like have theories —People like this have a humiliation kink and never pass up an opportunity to say even the most insane things. They’re so dumb, and nobody has told them. Think they matter in the grand scheme of things. Poor and raving misogynists. Exist to entertain.”
@meziemjanet also tweeted that, “Men are losers. Look at them in the comment section. Whenever I go to TikTok, I see about two videos of women reviewing hair they bought from her and how good & cheap it is. I even saved her page because I’ve been saving money to buy hair for my younger sister. Losers, all of you.”
