The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Mr. Sholola Kazeem, following a shocking incident of domestic violence involving his wife, Sholola Mutiat. The attack, which included pouring hot oil on Mutiat and stabbing her in the head, occurred during a heated argument on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2024, at approximately 12:20 PM in the Ring Road area of Owode, within the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.
CSP Omolola Odutola, the Police Public Relations Officer, detailed the events in a statement issued on Saturday. She explained that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Owode Egba division promptly intervened after receiving reports from concerned members of the community about the violent altercation.
“On January 18, 2025, at about 12:20 hours, the DPO received a report regarding the incident involving Sholola Kazeem and his wife, Sholola Mutiat, who lived together at the same address,” CSP Omolola stated. “It was reported that Kazeem, in a fit of uncontrollable rage over a misunderstanding, poured hot oil over his wife’s body and also stabbed her in the head.”
Following the incident, Mutiat was rushed to Ore Ofé Hospital for urgent medical attention. The police conducted a thorough examination of the crime scene to gather evidence related to the assault.
According to Sahara Reporters, CSP Omolola has confirmed that the suspect, Kazeem, has been apprehended and is currently under investigation. This incident highlights the urgent need for continued efforts to combat gender-based violence and protect women in the community.
