Summary: Tracy Nicolas Ohiri, a Nigerian businesswoman, has publicly accused Minister of Works Dave Umahi of refusing to pay a N304m debt owed to her since 2015. She also accused him of sending her death threats and ordering her arrest because she rejected his romantic advances.
Tracy Nicolas Ohiri, a Nigerian businesswoman, has publicly accused Minister of Works Dave Umahi of withholding a N304m payment owed to her for goods and services delivered, after she rejected his romantic advances on February 26 2026.
Tracy stated that she supplied items to Umahi when he served as Ebonyi State’s deputy governor in 2015 and that she has spent nearly a decade attempting to recover her money. She stated that while she pressed him for payment, Umahi simultaneously pressured her to date him.
When she refused and demanded that he focus on settling the debt, she said he blocked her number and cut off contact. She stated that Umahi’s response to her persistence escalated into threats, with him “warning her that what happened to those oil engineers would also happen to her if she came to his state.”
When her father fell critically ill, and she needed funds to fly him abroad for treatment, she stated that Umahi told her to let her father die. Her father subsequently died.
The day after she took to social media to demand justice following her father’s death, Ohiri stated that she was arrested. Tracy connected her ordeal to a broader pattern of how power operates in Nigeria.
“The common man, the honorary citizen, has no hope in this country,” she stated. “The resources of this country belong to only Nigerian politicians and their children.”
As of the time of writing, Dave Umahi has not made any public statement in response to Tracy’s accusations.
