In the heart of Nigeria’s capital, a new beacon of hope is rising. It is not just made of bricks and mortar, but of a seasoned resilience that has survived betrayal, international displacement, and deep personal loss. Ay’lonna B. Joshua, an entrepreneur, faith coach, women’s advocate, and philanthropist, is transforming her “ashes into an empire” with the establishment of the Ay’lonna B. Joshua Empowerment Clinic and Soulcare Retreat House for women.
A Legacy of “Pushing Through It”
Ay’lonna’s story is one of high stakes and even higher hurdles. Having been featured in The Rise and The Suffolk Herald for her outstanding work in inner cities across the USA. Becoming a teen mother at 14, surviving sexual abuse, toxic relationships and being married to a USA drug dealer. Her life has long been a subject of public interest.
In 2021, The Nigerian Voice highlighted her as a pivotal figure in the “Nigerian Women Voices Matter” (NWVM), recognising her as a leader capable of mobilising change for women. However, the road to her current success was paved with a devastating setback.
In 2022, Ay’lonna faced a profound personal and professional betrayal. Her husband at the time deceived her, seizing the land she had intended to use for what may have been one of the first dedicated domestic violence shelters for women and children in Nigeria.
From Betrayal to Empowerment
Many women may have folded under the weight of such a public and private blow. Instead, Ay’lonna leaned into her trademarked brand: PUSH THROUGH IT. After years of pain, hardships, and setbacks, she was able to purchase new land in June of 2025 for her vision.
The 7000-plus sq. ft. Soulcare Retreat Centre, a registered NGO located in Abuja, is designed to be more than a pavilion for women; it is a holistic sanctuary for women seeking healing from trauma or rediscovering their inner strength and power.
The facility will house an Empowerment Clinic, a Soulcare Retreat House offering day and overnight stays, an events hall, Healing @The Table, and Timeshare accommodation membership units specifically tailored for private extended stays.
”Aylonna’s journey isn’t just about building a clinic; it’s about rebuilding the shattered confidence of women who have been told, “You Can’t Get A Breakthrough,” says a close associate.
An Advocate for Women
As a former WP ambassador, Ay’lonna continues to use her platform to advocate for women. Her passion is dedicated to creating a platform for the voices of the marginalised to be heard, share their truths and reclaim their lives. Today, Ay’lonna B. Joshua stands as a testament to the “Women Who Build”—women who don’t just construct buildings, but who construct futures.
