1. Early Life and Education

Born on July 19, 1971, in Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria, Kate Henshaw is the oldest of four children. She attended St. Mary Private School in Lagos for her primary education and then Federal Government Girl’s College in Calabar for secondary education. She later studied remedial courses at the University of Calabar and majored in Medical Microbiology at Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).

2. Modelling Career

Kate began her journey in the entertainment industry as a model. She appeared in various commercials, including a popular print and TV ad for Shield deodorant, which helped her gain initial public recognition.

3. Medical Background

Before pursuing acting, Kate worked as a medical microbiologist at Bauchi State General Hospital. Her scientific background highlights her versatility and dedication.

4. Nollywood Breakthrough

Her acting career took off in 1993 when she landed the lead role in the movie “When the Sun Sets.” This debut marked the beginning of a successful career in Nollywood.

Kate has been a brand ambassador for several major companies, including Blessing Perfumes, Onga Seasoning, Samsung Mobile, and Glo. She uses her fame for good to ensure other indigenous brands’ success. She also hosts several occasions, including awards and Christmas events.

Kate is an all-rounder philanthropist. In 2016, she raised funds for a two-year-old boy with a severe facial ulcer, showcasing her commitment to using her platform for positive social impact.

The ever-young actress is a fitness enthusiast and is known for her many dance videos during her workout.

10. Honours and  Recognitions

Due to her outstanding performance and contribution to Nigeria’s filmmaking sector, Kate has won numerous awards. In 2008, Kate won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in “Stronger than Pain.” This accolade cemented her status as one of Nollywood’s top actresses. In 2011, Kate was also honoured as a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR).
