Nigerian actress and film producer Chioma Ifemeludike has emerged victorious as the governorship candidate for the Anambra state gubernatorial election. The election is slated to be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
Chioma is the flag bearer of the Africa Action Congress (AAC) and the second female candidate for the Anambra gubernatorial election. She joined the party in 2019 and previously served as the party’s state chairperson in Anambra state. She was unanimously elected by voice vote among the members of her party ahead of the Anambra State gubernatorial election.
Her 33-page manifesto promises youth empowerment through agro-industrial hubs and tech training, aiming to create 2,600 jobs within three years, introduce a minimum wage of N100,000, and enhance education, healthcare, and security.
Chioma’s candidacy for the Anambra gubernatorial election highlights the proactive approach women are taking to overcome and challenge the Nigerian patriarchal politics.
