Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi has formally warned the public, particularly bloggers, influencers, content creators and social media users, against circulating what her lawyers describe as false, misleading and defamatory publications about her.

On Thursday, November 5, 2026, Toyin shared a cease-and-desist notice issued by Whitestone Solicitors and Consultancy on her X account. The document, dated the same day and signed by Tope Salami, Esq., is addressed to the general public.

The notice states: “It has come to our attention that certain individuals have engaged in the publication and circulation of statements, allegations and narratives concerning our client; which are untrue, misleading, unsubstantiated, and capable of damaging her professional personality, image, personal integrity, and general goodwill.”

The lawyers further alleged that some of these publications were being pushed by “known persons” taking cover under sponsored individuals. They urged the public to “be wary of several false and malicious publications targeted at the person of our client.”

In clear terms, the solicitors demanded immediate compliance, writing: “We therefore implore the general public to immediately CEASE AND DESIST from making, publishing, reposting, circulating, endorsing or otherwise disseminating any false, misleading, malicious, defamatory or unverified statements concerning Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi, whether directly or indirectly, across any social media platform or other communication channel known to law.”

The notice outlined additional directives. Recipients must remove existing posts, videos, comments and other materials containing the disputed claims; refrain from creating or amplifying misleading narratives, fabricated allegations or content intended to ridicule, harass or damage her reputation; and avoid using social media to encourage cyberbullying, intimidation or reputational attacks against her or her business. Future commentary, the lawyers said, must be “factual, responsible, fair, and supported by verifiable information.”

Addressing free speech, the notice noted: “It is trite that the freedom of expression enjoyed by members of the public does not confer an unrestricted permit to spread falsehoods, malign another person’s character or publish statements that unlawfully injure another person’s reputation.”

It concluded with a strong warning: “TAKE NOTICE that any person who continues to publish, circulate, endorse or amplify false and defamatory statements after receiving this notice shall be held legally responsible for their actions and may face appropriate legal proceedings and other remedies available under every extant laws.” Relevant digital materials may be preserved as evidence.

Toyin accompanied the post with the message: “To Whom It May Concern: Please take a moment to read this carefully. Love you all.”

The notice does not name specific individuals or detail the exact allegations it seeks to halt. The latest legal notice comes as she intensifies promotions for her upcoming cinema film, Bestie, scheduled for nationwide release on December 16, 2026.
