US singer David Anthony Burke, popularly known as D4vd, has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a teenage girl, Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose remains were discovered in 2025, authorities in Los Angeles have confirmed.
The 21-year-old artist was taken into custody by the Los Angeles Police Department and is currently being held without bail. Police said the case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s office on April 20, 2026, for possible charges.
The arrest follows months of investigation into the death of Celeste, a 14-year-old girl who had been reported missing in April 2024. The case gained urgency after the teenager’s remains were discovered on September 8, 2025, in a Tesla vehicle linked to the singer. The car had been towed to a Hollywood yard after reports of a foul odour.
According to court documents, investigators found the decomposed head and torso of the victim inside a cadaver bag in the front compartment of the vehicle, which was registered to an address associated with Burke in Texas.
Medical officials described the remains as severely decomposed and said the teenager may have been dead for several weeks before the discovery. However, no official cause of death has been released, with authorities continuing to treat the case as an active death investigation.
In November 2025, a judge ordered that the teen’s death records be sealed to allow investigators to receive full findings from the medical examiner before making details public. Investigations intensified in December 2025 when a grand jury in Los Angeles began hearing evidence, identifying D4vd as a target and raising the possibility of a murder charge.
The case has drawn widespread attention online, particularly given the singer’s rising fame. Known for tracks such as Romantic Homicide, D4vd had recently cancelled his world tour and withdrawn from public appearances following the discovery of the body.
