Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has criticised a social media user’s attempt at comparing her movie performance with that of her colleague, Uche Montana.
The X user’s post referenced Toyin Abraham’s Alakada Gen Z, which reportedly reached 3 million views in 1 week, and contrasted it with Uche Montana’s Monica 2, which surpassed 5 million views within 24 hours.
The comparison quickly gained traction online, prompting reactions from users and drawing Toyin Abraham into the conversation. In response, Toyin criticised the attempt at pitting the actresses against one another and expressed support for Uche Montana’s success.
“Please leave my name out of this. She’s big, and she’s good… let her shine and leave my name alone,” she wrote.
Monica 2, by Uche Montana, reached over 4 million views in its first 15 hours of release, surpassing its predecessor. The film went on to exceed 10 million views on YouTube within two days, marking a major milestone in Nollywood’s digital distribution space.
