The YouthRise Nigeria media fellowship is a six-week virtual training designed to equip young media professionals with the skills to improve drug-related media coverage, ethical reporting, and public health advocacy across Nigeria.
The training brings together diverse creative minds, including journalists, reporters, digital content creators, influencers, human rights and policy advocates, media enthusiasts and storytellers. For the 2026 cohort, 40 fellows were selected out of a final list of 140 nationwide applications. The fellowship seeks to build a media network capable of driving legislative progress and encouraging human-centred, health-first drug policy reforms throughout the country.
“I am honoured to be selected among the fellows. I am confident that the fellowship is going to change how I think about certain topics, and I can’t wait to dive right into it,” Joy reporter expressed.
As a media practitioner, Joy documents women’s experiences, exposes misogyny, and amplifies feminist narratives through factual, accountability-driven reporting. Her reports cover topics such as gender-based violence, political representation, digital rights, and media misinformation, reflecting a strong commitment to ethical journalism and storytelling.
