This domestic abuse was captured in a viral video that was posted on Saturday, June 20, 2026. In the clip, Agwu, wearing shorts, used his body weight to pin Amarachi down, hold her hands, then he aggressively and repeatedly hit her in the face. While assaulting her, he vocally threatened to kill her.
According to the preliminary investigation, the incident occurred on April 4, 2026, at a residence in Aba where both individuals stay. The victim, Amarachi, was said to have washed a pot of leftover soup, which made the suspect enraged. While she tried to explain her actions, Agwu descended on her and brutally assaulted her. The video was posted by Obinna Amaogu.
Following the viral post, the police tracked and apprehended the suspect. The Command condemned the assault, describing it as inhumane and barbaric, while maintaining its commitment to ensuring justice for victims of abuse.
“The case is currently under discreet investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), and the suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations,” the statement reads.
