On August 11, 2026, the Lagos State Police Command arrested a 38-year-old man, identified as Michael, for repeatedly raping his 13-year-old stepdaughter in the Agege area of Lagos State.

The survivor disclosed the abuse to her biological father after repeatedly fleeing the home where the suspect lived, and the case has since been transferred to the Gender Unit in Ikeja for further investigation.

Michael, 38, was arrested on Sunday, August 11, 2026, after the survivor’s biological father reported the matter to a police station in Ketu. According to community sources privy to the incident, the 13-year-old had been living with the suspect and had repeatedly attempted to flee the home before eventually returning to her biological father, to whom she disclosed that her stepfather had been sexually abusing her.

His arrest subsequently led to the detention of a second suspect, described by the police as the survivor’s alleged “boyfriend.”

Confirming the arrests, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer SP Abimbola Adebisi stated, “The case was reported yesterday evening. Both the stepfather and the boyfriend were arrested and detained while the victim was taken to Mirabel Centre for medical examination and will be transferred to Gender Ikeja tomorrow morning for further investigation.”

NFM has reported on stepfathers sexually abusing children in their care. NFM previously reported on the #JusticeForOchanya case, in which feminists renewed calls for legal accountability against a father and son who repeatedly raped a minor in their home.
