Years After Turning Her Film Earnings Into Education for Makoko’s Children, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde Bags Global Social Impact Award  

Veteran Nollywood actress and producer Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, MFR, has been recognised with both a Social Impact Award and a Lifetime Social Impact Recognition, a joint first, from the Israel Tribune and 90210 Enterprise.

The recognition reflects the quiet generosity of Omotola, when she produced “Mothers Love,” she donated her entire producer’s earnings from the film to the education of children from underserved communities, including Makoko, the Lagos lagoon settlement that served as one of the movie’s backdrops.

“Little did I know how many it would resonate with,” she wrote in a celebratory Facebook post. “Our little act of obedience has continued to be an inspiration even to me.” 

Honoured and grounded, Omotola gave all glory to God: “I am truly grateful to be able to do what I love and give back through it.”

Omotola didn’t wait for applause, she built impact into her art. In an industry where profit often eclipses purpose, a woman chose to bankroll the education of children in one of Lagos’ most neglected communities with her own earnings.
