In commemoration of the Global Media and Information Literacy Week, Naija Feminists Media, Nigeria’s leading media organisation that amplifies women’s voices and experiences, will host a X space event on the theme, “ Unpacking Myths: What Feminism Really Is and Why It Matters”. The discussion will take place on Friday, October 30, 2026 by 5 pm WAT.

Global Media and Information Literacy Week is an annual celebration of progress and a global call to action. It mobilises stakeholders, communities, NGOs, and government agencies to raise awareness, increase national adoption, and achieve media literacy for all. This year’s theme, “We All Play a Part – Media and Information Literacy for the People,” recognises that advancing media and information literacy is a shared commitment that depends on the contributions of all sectors of society. It will take place from October 24 to October 31, 2026, to honour global progress toward bringing media and information literacy (MIL) to schools, communities, and national policies.

Building on this, NFM will examine the myths, misconceptions, and misinformation surrounding feminism, educating the public on the truth about this ideology and why it matters.

The conversation will bring forth distinguished speakers from across different professions; they include: Jenifatu Yakub; a Lawyer, researcher, and advocate for gender justice; Stephanie Jade, social justice advocate and creative; Nusrat Lasisi, the founder of NDR Initiative; a youth-focused platform committed to challenging gender stereotypes and promoting gender equality; Ogeyi Ebinyi,  journalist, content creator, and podcast creator of the OgeyiEliteShow podcaster.
