An identified 40-year-old Nigerian man, Adedapo Adegbola, has killed and pleaded guilty to the murder of his 23-year-old ex-girlfriend, Stephanie Irons, in the United Kingdom. 

The murder occurred on the evening of Tuesday, October 21, 2025, when Adegbola visited Stephs at her home in Mapperley, Nottinghamshire, UK. He fatally stabbed her following the end of their brief relationship. After the murder, Adedapo fled the scene, leaving behind blood-stained trainers and a jumper. 

Based on the concerned messages Steph’s colleagues received from her on the evening of the attack, they alerted the authorities. The police arrived to find her in the living room with fatal knife wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Adedapo and Stephanie were reportedly coworkers before their relationship turned romantic. They dated briefly before splitting recently. According to the Nottingham police, Adedapo murdered Stephanie because he couldn’t accept the end of their relationship. 

After his surrender to authorities, Adedapo appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday, January 26, 2026. He pleaded guilty to the murder and is scheduled to be sentenced on February 5, 2026, where he faces a mandatory life sentence.
