Summary: A Brazilian jury cleared Erica Pereira da Silveria Vicente of murder charges on Tuesday, March 25, 2026, after she confessed to killing her boyfriend, Everton Amaro de Silva, whom she stated she found raping her 11-year-old daughter in the state of Minas Gerais.
Erica Pereira da Silveria Vicente, a Brazilian mother, was cleared of murder charges by a jury in Minas Gerais, Brazil, on Tuesday, March 25, 2026, after she killed her boyfriend, whom she stated she found raping her 11-year-old daughter.
According to reports, Erica stated that after finding messages her boyfriend, Everton Amaro de Silva, had sent to her daughter, she heard the child screaming and rushed into a room to find him on top of her attempting to forcibly have sex with her.
Subsequently, Erica called de Silva into the living room, spiked his drink with a tranquiliser, and stabbed and clubbed him while he was unconscious. A teenager who heard the commotion helped Erica transport his body to a wasteland in Belo Horizonte, where she cut off his genitals.
Prosecutors argued the case constituted first-degree murder, contending that evidence suggested planning rather than an immediate reaction, and that Erica had deliberately incapacitated de Silva before attacking him. However, the judge in the case set Erica free and cleared her of any wrongdoing.
