Prominent activist Aisha Yesufu has reacted to reports that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, allocated over 31,000 plots of land equivalent to 2,082 hectares and valued at more than $3.6 billion to his son, Joaquin Wike. The allocations cover prime areas in Abuja, like Maitama, Asokoro, and Guzape.
The lands were issued with Certificates of Occupancy, but there are no records of ground rent, title registration, or survey fee payments, which has raised questions of abuse of office and a potential violation of the Code of Conduct for public officers as outlined in the Fifth Schedule of the 1999 Constitution.
In reaction, Aisha Yesufu took to the social media platform X, warning that the country is heading for disaster if such actions continue unchecked. She wrote, “Revolution can happen in politics. If we allow these people to hand over to their children, we are done for!”
Her post is one of many reactions from Nigerians expressing concern over unchecked power and the continued misuse of public resources. As of the time of this report, Minister Wike has not publicly responded to the allegations.
