On Thursday, October 17, 2025, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in its weekly strategic session, deliberated on the upcoming Anambra Governorship election. The Acting Chairperson, Ms May Agbamuche-Mba, presided over it.
The meeting, which was held at INEC headquarters in Abuja, reviewed the Commission’s operational readiness and ongoing preparations for the crucial Anambra poll. The session also provided an opportunity for the Commission to assess logistics, security arrangements, and stakeholder engagement plans ahead of the election.
Additionally, the Commission also discussed other upcoming elections, including the 2026 Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections and the Governorship Elections in Osun and Ekiti States.
According to the Commission, these early planning efforts are part of its commitment to improving electoral administration and ensuring credible, inclusive, and transparent elections across Nigeria.
Ms. Agbamuche-Mbu reiterated that INEC is determined to sustain public confidence in the electoral process and maintain high standards of professionalism in all upcoming elections.
