Barrister Damilola Ayinde-Marshall, a lawyer and Senior Special Assistant on Tourism, Arts and Culture to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Surulere Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general election.
Following the conclusion of the APC primary election on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, Ayinde-Marshall thanked party members, leaders, constituents and stakeholders for supporting her candidacy.
In a statement released after the primary, she thanked party members for electing her as the party’s flag bearer for the constituency and pledged to provide diligent representation if elected.
“This triumph is not just a victory for one person; it is a victory for democracy, for progress, and for every constituent who believes in a brighter future for our communities,” she said. “Now that the primaries are over, it is important that we close ranks, as the real work begins.”
Ayinde-Marshall successfully passed the APC screening process to contest the seat, currently held by Hon. Mosunmola Sangodara.
Her campaign has focused on her professional credentials, with early indications of endorsements from market women and members of the Arewa community. The 2027 general elections are expected to be held in February 2027.
