Armed bandits invaded a community in Chacho village, Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State, on November 30, 2025, abducting a bride-to-be, her bridesmaids, and at least 28 other women and girls just hours before a wedding was to be held.

The mass abductions of women and girls add to the rising wave of insecurity across parts of the North, where communities continue to face frequent raids by armed groups. 

According to Twitter user @DanKatsina50, the Bandits attacked the Chacho community in Wurno LGA last night, injuring one resident and abducting at least 30 women and girls. The attack comes amid an escalation in violent raids on schools, churches, and rural settlements across the region. Leaders of the community and family members of those abducted have appealed to security agencies and the Sokoto State government for immediate action. 

At the time of writing, no official statement has been issued by security agencies.
