Kabirat Hamzat is a confident and passionate young woman living with albinism. She believes in using her voice to inspire others and raise awareness about albinism. Curious and open-minded, she enjoys listening to people’s stories, learning new things, and trying out new experiences. 

As one of the contestants in the Albinism Advocacy Pageant, Kabirat is on a mission to break stereotypes and make a positive impact in society.

Kabirat shared her thoughts with Naija Feminists Media on breaking misconceptions, her dreams for the future, and why platforms like this matter to her. Here’s the scoop:

Meet Kabirat Hamzat

  1. Why did you decide to participate in the pageant?

I joined this pageant to build my confidence, raise awareness about albinism and show the world that beauty comes in every shade.

  1. What misconception about albinism would you like to change?

I want to change the belief that people with albinism are not capable. We are strong, intelligent and can achieve anything with support and opportunity.

  1. What advice do you have for young girls living with albinism?

I will tell her, “Believe in yourself, you are beautiful, smart and worthy. Don’t let anyone’s opinion stop you from following your dreams.”

  1. What is your goal for the next five years?

 In the next 5 years, I see myself as a successful business owner that creates a platform to support and empower people with albinism and acquire more knowledge to enable me to have my own cake and pastry studio/
