Amidst threats from South Africans to have her disqualified from the Miss Universe pageantry, Chidimma is in Mexico, ready to represent Nigeria in the pageantry. She is currently number two on the Miss Universe Pre-Arrival Hot Picks.
As the Miss Universe competition draws near, Nigeria’s Chidimma Adetshina has surged to second place in the Miss Universe Pre-Arrival Hot Picks, heightening anticipation for her performance on the global stage. The competition, set to begin on November 16, 2024, at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico, has seen Adetshina’s popularity and support rise sharply as she prepares to represent Nigeria in the esteemed pageant.
The Miss Universe pageant is an annual global pageant run by Thailand and the Miss Universe organisation in Mexico. Women worldwide come together to represent their countries and share their stories in the pageantry, after which one woman is crowned the winner and Miss Universe for the year.
Chidimma, who won Miss Universe Nigeria after dropping out of the Miss South Africa pageant due to xenophobic backlashes, is representing Nigeria amidst a threat by a South African group seeking to have her disqualified because of her identity documents. Over 14,000 people have signed the petition to have her disqualified.
Despite the controversy, Chidimma remains committed to her preparation and has stated in a recent Instagram post that she is ready to make a statement as she has freed her mind from any limitation.
“The Nigerian Barbie Angel is ready to take on November with beauty, grace, and unstoppable energy! Each day is a step closer to the crown, and I’m feeling all the love and strength from my incredible supporters back home. Let’s make this month unforgettable!” She said.
