Chinny Ononuju-McErnest, Founder of The Women International and CEO of Eastside Ventures, has been appointed Special Adviser on Strategic Partnerships to Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, H.E. Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim.
Her appointment reflects a steadfast dedication to women’s empowerment, gender equality, and sustainable development. With over 16 years of service, she has led transformative initiatives through The Women International, creating impactful opportunities for women and girls across the globe.
As Special Adviser, Chinny Ononuju will work closely with the Ministry to foster partnerships for women’s empowerment, secure funding for impactful programmes, enhance global visibility, and implement strategic initiatives that drive meaningful change for women and families in Nigeria.
As the Founder of The Women International (TWI), Chinny Ononuju has built a global network that uplifts and supports women. TWI has successfully implemented numerous mental health campaigns and established chapters in Nigeria, the US, the UK, Canada, and the UAE, with further expansion underway.
Beyond TWI, she serves as Managing Director at W Agency, a marketing firm under The Women International umbrella. Her expertise has shaped marketing strategies for prominent organisations, including Sahara Group Foundation, MTN Foundation, New Globe, and the Good Way Foundation.
Under her leadership, TWI has launched impactful programmes, including the “ONE-ON-ONE” counselling platform, which has provided professional counselling to 2,000 women and equipped 500 women with essential financial literacy skills. Her passion for social change is evident in her collaborative efforts with NGOs and foundations to amplify their societal impact.
Chinny’s appointment shows Nigeria’s gradual commitment to empowering women by placing experienced advocates in key roles. In this new role, she is poised to strengthen partnerships, champion women’s empowerment, and drive meaningful change on a global scale.
