Summary

Doechii was honoured as Woman of the Year at Billboard Women in Music 2025, where she reflected on her journey, championed industry inclusion, and joined a star-studded lineup celebrating influential women in music.

Fresh off her Grammy win and a Billboard Hot 100 top 10 hit, Doechii took the stage at Billboard’s Women in Music 2025 event on March 29, 2025 to accept the prestigious Woman of the Year award.

The Billboard Women in Music 2025 event, hosted by Laverne Cox, aired for free on VIZIO TVs and the VIZIO mobile app. The ceremony recognised women making an impact in the music industry, from artists to executives.

Taking the stage at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood, California, Doechii was introduced by two of her collaborators, Jayda Love and DJ Miss Milan.

Addressing the crowd, she playfully asked,

“Where’s the swamp? Do I have any fans in the house?”

Reflecting on her journey, she recalled her first time on the Billboard Women in Music stage: “I cannot believe it was just two years ago that I stood right here accepting the Billboard Rising Star Award. I had literally performed so hard I danced my shoes off and had to hop up to the mic,” she said

Thanking her family, God, and the women on her team and at her label, Doechii described the Woman of the Year honor as “a full-circle moment.” She also emphasised the significance of Billboard Women in Music as an industry event, acknowledging the ongoing fight for inclusion and recognition.

While recognising the progress made over the years, Doechii pointed out that challenges remain.

“Nearly two decades after Billboard Women in Music first started, a lack of inclusion and sexism are still issues in this industry. And that’s a problem. Which is why I’m grateful we have Billboard Women in Music.”

She ended her speech with a powerful statement: “This is our night to rightfully come together to acknowledge each other, support each other, and to celebrate. We are the creators, we are the executives, we are the innovators who are just as central to this industry as the men. Clock it.”

While Doechii was honoured as Woman of the Year, other winners included Erykah Badu, Aespa, Ángela Aguilar, ANNA, Charlotte Cardin, GloRilla, Gracie Abrams, Meghan Trainor, Muni Long, and Megan Moroney.

The evening featured electrifying performances from honourees Aespa, Ángela Aguilar, Erykah Badu, Gracie Abrams, Megan Moroney, Muni Long, and Tyla, making it a night to remember.
