Summary
Emmanuel Egbosimba, 42, was remanded in Kirikiri on October 28, 2025, for repeatedly raping his daughter from 2020 to date. He started raping his daughter from the age of 14 after the death of his wife.
A 42-year-old man, Emmanuel Egbosimba, has been remanded by an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly raping his 19-year-old daughter for about five years.
Adegoke Ademigbuji, the Police prosecutor, revealed to the court that Emmanuel Egbosimba has been committing the crime since 2020, following the death of his wife.
He also told the court that Emmanuel Egbosimba started raping his daughter when she was 14 years old, at 29 B, Olusesi Close, Ile Ewe Ejigbo, Lagos.
According to the prosecutor, all efforts for the girl to free herself from her father failed as Emmanuel threatened to kill his daughter if she ever told anyone.
He added that it wasn’t until the girl told the police that her father rapes her almost every day that Emmanuel Egbosimba got arrested.
Such offence contravened section 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, according to Adegoke Ademigbuj.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr L. A Owolabi ordered Emmanuel Egbosimba to be remanded in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending Nov. 17, for legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The conviction of Emmanuel Egbosimba for raping his daughter for five years is one of the many crimes of male violence against women and girls in Nigeria, where sexual abuse remains rampant. Naija Feminists Media has exposed and reported on the disturbing frequency of such crimes here.
