On September 9, 2026, the Cross River State Police Command arrested Felix Solomon in connection with the sexual assault and unlawful confinement of a 15-year-old girl in Calabar, and launched a manhunt for other suspects involved in the incident.

According to the police, the girl was taken against her will to a residence in the 8 Miles area of Calabar on September 4, where she was sexually assaulted by two suspects and prevented from leaving for approximately three days.

According to Cross River State Police Command spokesperson Sunday Eitokpah, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, the incident was reported to the Ikpa Omin Police Division on September 9, following which Solomon was arrested and taken into custody.

Sunday Eitokpah said Felix was assisting investigators with information that could help unravel the circumstances surrounding the alleged offence, and confirmed that police were working to identify and apprehend all other persons involved in the incident.

The Cross River State Police Command stated that it had activated its child protection and investigative procedures to protect the survivor’s privacy, dignity, and welfare, and pledged not to disclose her identity or any information that could identify her, to prevent further trauma and stigmatisation.

“The Command strongly warns against all forms of sexual violence against children.”
